Job description

Safety/Training Specialist


Department: Vehicle Processing Center (VPC)

Reports to: Safety/Training Specialist

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, 8:00 AM- 5 PM (possible weekends and overtime)

Worksite Location: Ellabell, GA


Position Summary: Oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Program to ensure proper training of Glovis employees, subcontractors, and associates to ensure a safe workplace. Conduct the operational training for new class based of on the operation procedure



Responsibilities for a Safety/Training Specialist:


  • Oversee HSE program to ensure proper training of all Glovis employees and contracted employees.
  • Manage OSHA, ISO, AAR, Worker's Compensation, and Health, Safety, and Environmental training programs.
  • Lead training sessions for new hire orientation, equipment certification, OSHA regulations, and EPA guidelines.
  • Maintain logs and documentation required by OSHA and support Worker's Compensation insurance reporting.
  • Monitor Return to Work program to help reduce lost time and work related injuries.
  • Oversee post-accident drug and alcohol testing programs.
  • Conduct internal and external safety audits to reinforce safe work practices and ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Schedule quarterly inspections of emergency response system, fire alarm, and fire sprinkler system to meet local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and implement Continuous Improvement Program to ensure safe work practices and environment.
  • Investigate root cause analysis, provide countermeasures on all issues including near misses.
  • Develop cross groups to help communicate all issues pertaining to safety and our certifications.
  • Ensure district compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations related to hazardous material and waste.
  • Create, maintain, and retrieve documents needed to renew annual ISO 45001 certifications.
  • Track employee training attendance and maintain training records for employees
  • Coordinate and conduct driver training for new employees as needed
  • Work with security to provide badges and review the inventory of badge active/inactive history
  • Patrol the yard to control the un-permitted personnel or vehicle operation standard
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Safety/Training Specialist:


Education:

  • High school, Some College, or College Degree

Experience:

  • Prior experience in a lead or coordinator role preferred; Automotive logistics experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret instructions and apply them accurately in the field.
  • ISO certification experience and Safety Management required.
  • AAR training highly desired with experience handling investigations and establishing protocol.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Must have solid computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data entry and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and task-planning skills.
  • Ability to investigate and formulate a plan that supports managements operating policies and safety goals.
  • Audit experience with strong communication skills to ensure effective communication across other departments.
  • High attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to be proactive and create positive experiences for team members.


This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including a laptop computer and cell phone. The employee is generally required to spend long periods of time sitting, typing, and working at a computer. May require the ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and transport items. The estimated base salary range for the Operations Specialist is $59,000-$62,000. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that GLOVIS EA reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
