Operations Manager - Canada (English/French) - Mississauga

Summary

The Operations Manager plans, coordinates, organizes, and oversees production & warehousing activities across a multi-site Canadian operation. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient production of goods and services, delivering on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity (SQDIP) targets. Additionally, the Operations Manager is responsible for producing high-quality goods on time to meet customer demands.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborate with Planning, Customer Service and Purchasing to ensure materials are ordered and scheduled in time to fulfill customer demand.
  • Manage both the Shipping, Receiving and Production teams to ensure processes are followed and best practices are implemented.
  • Lead weekly meetings with Planning and Purchasing to manage late orders and ensure they are scheduled into manufacturing.
  • Provide production oversight to direct reports, ensuring daily key performance indicators (KPIs) OTD-R, OTD-C, sales, and quality metrics) are met. When performance falls below targets, review root causes and corrective explanations with the management team.
  • Monitor and follow up on weekly cycle counts and inventory levels.
  • Support daily quality activities, including scrap review, manufacturing root cause analysis, process review and support customer escalations or audits.
  • Lead daily SQDIP meetings to ensure daily metrics are met; if results are below target, corrective actions are documented and followed up until completion.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager to address safety issues and ensure that safety observations are entered weekly and closed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate large customer orders or new projects by collaborating with other departments to ensure a smooth launch.
  • Maintain housekeeping best practices on the manufacturing floor and ensure the area is always tour-ready. Promote and sustain 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles throughout the facilities.
  • Support staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees to promote personal and professional growth. Identify future constraints, risks, or staffing gaps before they impact delivery.
  • Develop and coach supervisors, team leads and frontline employees through regular one-on-one meetings, performance feedback, career development planning, and skills training to build a high-performing team.
  • Maintain training matrices and training records, ensuring new employees use the correct training documents and complete all required training.
  • Create a culture of accountability, engagement, retention, morale and continuous improvement by setting clear expectations, recognizing strong performance, and addressing issues promptly and consistently.
  • Administer and enforce company policies, procedures, attendance standards, manage progressive discipline actions and performance improvement plans (PIP) when necessary.
  • Build bench strength and succession plans for key operational roles, ensuring employees are cross-trained and prepared for future growth opportunities.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence on the production floor, actively engaging with employees, removing obstacles, and fostering open communication and trust.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams and external contractors to ensure manufacturing equipment, facility infrastructure, and preventative maintenance programs are maintained to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Prepare and communicate operational performance metrics, business risks, resource requirements, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership on a regular basis.
  • Manage any new projects, business initiatives timelines, resource requirements, risks, and deliverables to ensure successful implementation and business continuity.
  • Monitor operational costs, labor utilization, inventory levels, and productivity metrics, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and support profitability objectives.
  • Manage a multi-site Canadian operation consisting of four facilities, including two French-speaking locations.
  • Conduct regular visits to all Canadian operating locations to build relationships with local teams, assess operational performance, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure consistent implementation of company policies and standards.
  • Travel expectation approximately 20–30%
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the management.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive manufacturing, operations, or engineering leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience, including coaching and developing supervisors and frontline employees.
  • Experience managing multi-site operations preferred.
  • Bilingual (French/English) preferred.
  • Prior experience working with ERP and CRM systems - Salesforce, Wings, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) preferred.
  • Project management and continuous improvement experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze operational and financial data to support decision-making.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and achieve operational performance objectives.
  • Strong customer focus with a commitment to meeting customer requirements and delivery expectations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate, and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, and change management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada for any employer.
  • Have a valid Driver's license.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20–30% to support multi-site operations.

Salary & Conditions:

  1. Job Location: AMMEGA Canada Inc. (Head Office) - 265 Export Blvd, Mississauga, ON
  2. Salary: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually + Company Annual Bonus Plan up to 20% , depending on profile and experience
  3. Days of work: Monday to Friday - Permanent Full-time position, 40 hours per week
