SMG is a nationally recognized professional service organization that provides workplace safety consulting, training, staffing, program planning, and implementation. SMG seeks a Safety Advisor - Construction in Caledonia, Michigan - Day Shift - Per diem is available

The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client's needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change and travel. The Associate in this role will work in a construction environment on a data center site with a GC doing a lot of civil work. This person will be working 5 days a week. 10 hours per day.


 Additional Information

  • SMG full-time, benefitted Associates are eligible for Premium Pay after working 40 billable hours for the week. Premium pay is at a 1.35 multiplier. 
  • Per Diem is available for non-local candidates only. Per diem is $160/day for this project. 
  • This projects anticpated duration is 5 months. Project may get extended. Anticipated schedule is Mon-Friday, 10 hours a day.
  • $400 Road Warrior Benefit each month. 
  • Annual pay/merit review/increase.


Overview of Job Responsibilities

  • Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
  • Oversee civil contractor 
  • Must be able to create reports, run safety metrics, and use other software programs
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis
  • Represent the contractor in progress meetings
  • Verify compliance with safety policies and procedures as required by law, the Owner, and contractors
  • Conduct New Hire Orientations and safety meetings
  • Provides incident management and support
  • Documentation and Report preparation
  • Conducts Contractor program reviews

Requirements


  • Seven plus years of construction safety experience
  • BSCP Cert - CHST or higher
  • Seven (7) years mission critical construction safety experience with CSP or CHST certification, OR
  • Ten (10) years progressive field safety experience on mission critical projects
  • A degree in safety or related fields is preferred
  • First-aid/CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
  • OSHA 30-hr Construction

Physical Demands of the job may include

  • Moving about long distances
  • Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
  • Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
  • Working in extreme weather
  • Being exposed to loud noises
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly
