Description:  Bus Monitor will ride the bus with students to help promote a calm and safe environment 
Job Summary: 

  • Riding as an attendant on a special education route
  • Providing safety and supervision on a bus route
  • Assist in implementing consistent behavior management strategies and procedures
  • Perform personal care duties for students with disabilities, as needed
  • Correctly positions students with physical disabilities
  • Implement strategies to maintain/increase appropriate behavior and reduce inappropriate behavior
  • Supervise students at transfer points if needed
  • Follow directions from teachers, drivers and administrators
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with students, parents and colleagues
  • Attend work on a prompt reliable basis
  • Follow all district policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
 High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to engage students with special needs
  • Ability to carry out duties cooperatively with others
  • Ability to follow health, safety and emergency procedures
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
