THE POSITION
As a Correctional Industries Manager 1 with the Department of Corrections, you will help shape daily operations in diverse and active production areas. This position gives you the chance to contribute to statewide goals while working with dedicated teams. You will have the opportunity to support safe, efficient work environments as well as help others learn valuable skills. This is a role where your leadership makes a difference every day!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the operation of multiple correctional industry programs that provide goods and services across the agency. Work involves planning, reviewing, and guiding activities to keep production efficient, safe, and aligned with agency goals. As a Correctional Industries Manager 1, you will perform the following duties:
  • Operations Oversight: Manage daily functions across designated industry areas to keep activities organized and productive
  • Process Development: Improve work procedures and training programs to support staff and inmate workers
  • Quality and Compliance: Monitor operations to ensure safety, security, and adherence to required standards
  • Production Planning: Develop plans for materials, labor, and equipment based on forecasted needs
  • Record Management: Maintain accurate records for production, budgets, staffing, and facility reports
  • Team Coordination: Hold staff meetings, address concerns, and support communication within the work areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $61,418.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Corrections Factory Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation, including two years of supervisory experience; or
  • A Master's Degree with major course work in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, or industrial education, or related area and one year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, including two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation. Formal study at a college or university with major course work in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, industrial education, or related training may be substituted for non-supervisory experience on a year-for- year basis to a maximum of four years.

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
