Join us at Ryther as a Lead Behavior Specialist!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Share on-call coverage with the Program Supervisor to help ensure consistent support for the team
  • Support new staff onboarding and training, including coordinating shadow shifts and helping with program-specific training
  • Stay in regular communication with the Supervisor about daily program flow, staffing needs, and schedule follow-through
  • Serve as a go-to resource for Behavior Specialists for program questions and clarification (the Supervisor remains responsible for 1:1 supervision and scheduling)
  • Complete routine chart reviews in Credible (our EHR) to support accurate, timely, and compliant documentation
  • Conduct eMAR medication audits and communicate any discrepancies or concerns;
  • Monitor and maintain inventory, including snacks, medication cart supplies, and janitorial items
  • Take and share notes during staff meetings to support clear communication and accountability

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (MH field beneficial) or high school education/GED with at least one year combination of experience and training working with children, youth, and/or families, preferably in a mental health related setting.
  • Valid WA state driver's license, good driving record, and ability to drive agency vehicles.
  • Must have experience working with at-risk teens
  • Acceptance and ability to work with individuals and families with a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices with the ability to apply a social justice and equity lens to all aspects of this work.
  • Experience working with youth needing higher levels of mental health care (preferred).

Behavior Specialists create and maintain a positive, safe, and therapeutic environment while assisting clients in meeting their treatment goals. The role of Behavior Specialist includes supporting and facilitating therapeutic groups, promoting an affirming treatment environment, maintaining daily routines, and assisting in tasks related to client care, such as meal preparation.

As the Lead, you'll provide a consistent therapeutic milieu through direct care and supervision of youth in respite, in our Family Intervention Restorative Services (FIRS) program. You'll engage youth with high support needs in evidence-based treatment using a trauma-informed and DEI framework.
