Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Blockchain Engineer - Ecosystem Research & Business Exploration based in Netherlands.

You will join a highly exploratory engineering environment focused on uncovering where blockchain technology can generate real, measurable business value. The role sits at the intersection of research, engineering, and product thinking, where curiosity and experimentation are as important as technical expertise. You will build prototypes, test emerging ideas, and translate insights into actionable recommendations that influence infrastructure-level decisions. The work is fast-evolving, with no fixed domain, requiring adaptability and strong analytical thinking. You will collaborate closely with core protocol and product teams in a fully remote, highly autonomous setup. This is an ideal opportunity for early-career engineers who want to shape the future of Web3 through hands-on discovery and technical exploration.

Accountabilities:
  • Explore and prototype blockchain-based use cases across diverse business scenarios, building experimental tools and proof-of-concepts to validate real-world applicability of emerging ideas.
  • Research on-chain ecosystems, protocols, and industry trends to identify opportunities where infrastructure and tooling can better support scalable adoption.
  • Transform research outputs into structured technical documentation, clear insights, and actionable recommendations for engineering and product stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with protocol, infrastructure, and product teams to ensure experimental findings inform roadmap direction and technical priorities.
  • Continuously monitor developments across the broader Web3 landscape, including decentralized applications, protocols, and evolving business models.
Requirements:
  • 1-5 years of engineering experience with a strong foundation in backend or systems development, preferably using Go, Rust, or Python.
  • Solid understanding of core blockchain concepts such as transaction lifecycle, smart contracts, and EVM-compatible systems.
  • Strong curiosity-driven mindset with comfort navigating ambiguity and learning through experimentation and hands-on exploration.
  • Ability to structure complex technical findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-driven working style with the ability to operate independently in a fully remote, research-oriented environment.
  • Nice to have: exposure to blockchain ecosystems such as Ethereum, Solana, or similar networks, along with familiarity in DeFi, trading systems, payments, or AI-driven Web3 applications.
  • Nice to have: experience in on-chain data analysis, smart contract development, quantitative analysis, or financial systems engineering.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote-first working environment with high autonomy and flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge blockchain research with direct influence on infrastructure and ecosystem direction.
  • Exposure to advanced Web3 engineering challenges and collaboration with experienced protocol engineers.
  • Strong learning environment focused on experimentation, innovation, and rapid prototyping.
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and market benchmarks.
  • Opportunity to contribute to impactful, early-stage blockchain innovation projects.
