The position is 75% in World Languages and Cultures, where the candidate will teach three first and second year ASL courses per semester, and 25% in English, where one course per semester will be taught in the sociolinguistics of the deaf community, the linguistic structure of ASL, or similar areas. Total teaching load is 4 courses per semester.
- Master's degree in a qualifying field (American Sign Language, Linguistics of ASL, Signed Language Interpreting, Deaf Culture, Deaf Education, Deaf Studies, or other related degree), or Master's degree in another field with 18 graduate hours in a qualifying field required
- Fluency in American Sign Language
- Deaf Interpreter
- Instruction experience and proof of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level
- Native speaker of ASL
- American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) Teacher Certification
