Company Description

Homestead Veterinary Hospital is a six-doctor practice serving a diverse caseload of approximately 70% equine, 25% small animal, and 5% small ruminant patients. We support all areas of equine sports medicine, caring for patients ranging from beloved backyard companions to high-level performance horses.

While our practice is primarily ambulatory, we also operate a 10,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art hospital featuring indoor stocks and four stalls, including mare/foal and isolation spaces.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

We're seeking a compassionate and versatile team member to support both patient care and front desk operations, working with both small animal and equine patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Restrain pets and assist with exams, procedures, and surgery (including anesthesia support)
  • Triage patients and assist with diagnostics (lab samples, imaging)
  • Provide nursing care and administer medications
  • Communicate treatment plans with clients
  • Greet clients, manage calls/emails, and schedule appointments
  • Check clients in/out, process payments, and maintain reception area
  • Offer empathetic support to clients during sensitive situations

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to odors, noise, animal waste, bites/scratches, and contagious diseases

Qualifications

We're Looking For:

  • A Registered Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts.
  • Compassionate, calm, and team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques.
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens.
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture.
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to manage scheduling, taking calls, and answering client questions.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards.
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning.
