Job description

GRT Rubber is looking for Peak Performers who are not afraid of tough work!
Working Conditions:

The Mill Operator sets up, operates and tends milling machines to mix, mill and shape rubber material for molding. The Mill Operator uses job travelers and other documentation for specifications and conformance. This position works closely with plant chemists to ensure proper chemicals, and other components are properly used when preparing to mill rubber.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reads and interprets job travelers to assess specifications and to determine mixing and material instructions needed to mill rubber components;
  • Observes the milling machine operation and adjusts controls to ensure conformance with specified tolerances such as mill speed, lubrication and density;
  • Continuously tends the machine and the material, often feeding material back into the rollers and sometimes adding components until the material reaches proper consistency;
  • Verifies dimensions of rubber material using various instruments such as rulers, gauges and calipers;
  • Delivers samples to the on-site lab for testing, as necessary
  • Removes rubber material and places it according to instructions on racks in the mill room for production needs.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Ability to follow directions and get along well with others.
Outstanding punctuality and attendance required.
Ability to read and understand a tape measure.
Basic math is required.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. In addition, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Must be available for overtime and work weekends when necessary.
Selected candidate will be subject to a background check and drug screen. All offers will be contingent on satisfactory screening results.
