About the Role

The Injection Molding Technician โ€“ Silicone is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and/or silicone injection molding equipment in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality molded components, minimizing downtime, and maintaining compliance with ISO 13485, GMP, and FDA quality standards.

Direct silicone injection molding experience is required. Candidates without silicone molding experience will not be considered.

ResponsibilitiesSilicone Processing & Machine Setup
  • Set up and start silicone injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform mold changes and optimize silicone molding processes to meet production targets.
  • Adjust processing parameters including temperature, pressure, cure time, and cycle time.
  • Monitor silicone material behavior and flow characteristics to ensure product consistency.
  • Conduct first-piece inspections and verify dimensional conformance.
Troubleshooting & Optimization
  • Diagnose and resolve silicone molding defects such as short shots, flash, bubbles, knit lines, and dimensional instability.
  • Troubleshoot tooling, equipment, and material issues to minimize scrap and downtime.
  • Apply scientific molding principles to improve repeatability and reduce variability.
  • Support validation activities including IQ, OQ, and PQ when required.
Leadership & Operator Support
  • Train and mentor operators on silicone molding best practices and GMP compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance during changeovers and production runs.
  • Monitor operator performance and reinforce quality and safety standards.
Quality & Compliance
  • Maintain detailed production and process documentation.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and company safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve process deviations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of silicone injection molding experience required.
  • Strong experience with LSR or high-consistency rubber molding processes.
  • Experience performing mold setup, parameter optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, and quality specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical troubleshooting efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or cleanroom environments.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 regulations.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, and auxiliary silicone molding equipment.
  • Knowledge of SPC and process validation methodologies.
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work overtime or alternate shifts as required.
