Mammography Technologist II: Level II is intended for candidates with 4-6 years of mammography experience, current ARRT certification in Radiography, Mammography, or 1-3 years of mammography experience with a Breast Sonography [ARRT(R)(M)(BS)], This level of technologist demonstrates advanced clinical competency in breast imaging. If you do not meet the 4 years of experience, technologists must be credentialed in Breast Sonography through either ARRT or ARDMS, further expanding one's expertise and versatility within breast imaging services. For team members who have not yet obtained this credential, Denver Health is committed to supporting your professional growth and advancement by providing on-the-job training and development opportunities to help you achieve certification. Denver Health has had a very high success rate team members achieving this goal. Upon successful completion of the Breast Sonography certification examination, Denver Health will reimburse the cost of the exam. Denver Health is invested in its team members and is dedicated to helping you build a rewarding and progressive career in breast imaging.
If you do not meet these requirements, the Mammography Technologist I pay range is from $35.47 - $53.21 and requires current ARRT(R)(M) certification and requires a minimum of 1 year of experience.
Job Summary
Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms and breast ultrasounds at a technical level not requiring constant supervision but at the direction of a radiologist. Performs a variety of technical imaging procedures that entail application of ionizing radiation; therefore, prudent judgment, strong technical skills, and a commitment to patient safety are considered requisite professional characteristics for individuals assuming the position as a senior mammography technologist. Another secondary component of this job involves assisting the radiologist in performing interventional breast procedures and breast ultrasound examinations in order to contribute to a diagnosis.
Essential Functions:
- Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms following appropriate assessment by clinicians. (60%)
- Assists radiologists during interventional procedures, (breast biopsies, needle localizations). Such assistance may include procedures preparation, post-procedural patient care to include, but not limited to, breast compression, retrieval of ice, and delivery of biopsy specimen to laboratory. (20%)
- Ensures patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by following appropriate patient care guidelines to include use of 2 patient identifiers. (5%)
- Operates, on a day-to-day basis, PACS applications to include: archiving activities; image auto-routing; and prefetching tasks; image quality assurance and other related activities. (5%)
- Assists in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking, and performing inventory checks on those medical supplies utilized when performing general radiographic examinations. (5%)
- Ensures that the Mammography department is appropriately equipped and maintained in a clean, safe, and hazard-free manner. (5%)
Education:
- Associate's Degree Required
Work Experience:
- 4-6 years Performing screening and diagnostic mammograms. Required OR
- 1-3 years Performing screening and diagnostic mammograms. Required and completed American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registered with Breast Sonography (BS) specialty Required
Licenses:
- RTR-RT Radiography - ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Required and
