To thrive as an RSP Assistant, you need knowledge of special education practices, familiarity with individualized education programs (IEPs), and at least a high school diploma or equivalent—though some positions may require additional coursework or certifications. Experience with educational software, basic data entry systems, and assistive technology is often necessary. As an RSP (Resource Specialist Program) Assistant, your daily responsibilities typically include supporting teachers in delivering individualized instruction to students with special needs, preparing instructional materials, and monitoring student progress. You may also assist with classroom management, provide one-on-one or small group support, and help implement students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Collaboration with RSP teachers, general education staff, and sometimes parents is a key part of the role to ensure each student receives the resources and support they need to succeed.

What are RSP Assistants?

RSP Assistants, or Resource Specialist Program Assistants, support special education teachers and students in educational settings. They help implement individualized education plans (IEPs), assist with classroom activities, and provide academic and behavioral support to students with special needs.
