Job description

RPG Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled RPG Engineer to join their development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications written in RPG for IBM i (AS/400) systems. This role requires a strong understanding of RPG IV, ILE, Free-form RPG, and related technologies, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain new and existing applications using RPG IV, ILE RPG, and Free-form RPG
  • Perform system analysis, design, and coding for various business requirements
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in existing RPG applications
  • Collaborate with business analysts and other developers to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Participate in testing and quality assurance activities to ensure the reliability and performance of applications
  • Document technical specifications, program code, and system processes

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an RPG Developer or Engineer
  • Strong proficiency in RPG IV, ILE RPG, and Free-form RPG
  • Experience with DB2/400, SQL, and other IBM i native databases
  • Familiarity with modern development tools and methodologies on the IBM i platform
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
