Job Title: Route TechnicianJob Description

The Route Technician serves as both a route sales and service technician, managing product delivery, inventory rotation, invoicing, and equipment cleaning while also troubleshooting and repairing machines at customer locations. This role operates with minimal supervision, represents the company in a professional and courteous manner, and ensures exceptional customer service for retail accounts and partners.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver products, promotional materials, and related supplies to assigned accounts on a daily route.
  • Complete and rotate account inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels and proper product rotation.
  • Prepare, document, and complete invoices for all deliveries, including recording store-provided purchase order numbers where required.
  • Clean machines, replenish stock of cups, lids, and straws, and refresh promotional materials at customer locations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines, diagnose service problems, and complete repairs as needed.
  • Receive and respond to emergency service or supply calls from the service center, field leadership, and customer service teams.
  • Handle machine movement where required, including installations, exchanges of old or damaged machines, and removal of machines from closed accounts.
  • Load and unload the company vehicle daily, ensuring inventory for delivery is accurately prepared and secured.
  • Conduct inventory counts at the beginning and end of each shift to reconcile product and materials.
  • Complete scheduled deliveries promptly and communicate with store personnel about new products and promotional items.
  • Provide training and guidance to store personnel who are unfamiliar with machine operation, ensuring proper use of equipment.
  • Manage cash-on-demand (COD) deliveries by collecting payment, obtaining money orders for cash payments, and turning them in at the service center at the end of the day.
  • Perform general warehouse duties such as cleaning, organizing, rotating product, and assisting with shipping and receiving of equipment, parts, and product.
  • Attend weekly meetings at the service center and work independently to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Use hand tools and follow installation procedures for equipment, including soda and ICEE machines, coffee machines, and related systems.
  • Drive the assigned route safely and efficiently, complying with DOT requirements and company driving standards.
  • Maintain professional, courteous customer relations and act as a primary point of contact for service and delivery needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervision.
Essential Skills
  • Experience working as a Service Technician or demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on soda machines, ICEE machines, coffee machines, and similar equipment.
  • Proficiency in route driving, including operating box trucks and driving more than 40% of the time.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to maintain positive customer, interpersonal, and team relationships.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to manage routes, service calls, and documentation.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including comfort with basic mathematical functions for invoicing and inventory.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in maintenance, service repair, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and work from basic blueprints and understand electrical concepts related to equipment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Real-ID Driver’s License.
  • Must have a DOT certification or be able to meet and pass DOT requirements.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. or more on a regular basis, with occasional lifting in excess of 75 lbs.
  • Preferred minimum of two (2) years of customer service and/or route driving experience.
  • Willingness and ability to drive more than 40% of the time.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for maintenance and repair tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Certification by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to handle refrigerant is a plus.
  • Graduation from a technical or vocational school is preferred.
  • Experience with HVAC systems, electrical work, and mechanical maintenance is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with soda machine, ICEE machine, and coffee machine installation and service.
  • Comfort working with service technician and maintenance technician responsibilities.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation toward in-store merchandising and point-of-sale (POS) materials.
  • Experience with route sales, box truck driving, and service repair work.
  • Ability to work effectively with tablets, cell phones, and basic technology for routing and documentation.

Work Environment

This role is primarily field-based, with driving required more than 40% of the time on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You will visit client sites, most often movie theaters and similar venues, to deliver products for soda and ICEE machines, refresh promotional materials, and perform maintenance and repairs on equipment. Work includes both indoor and warehouse environments, involving loading and unloading a company vehicle, rotating product, and handling equipment and parts. You must be comfortable lifting 75 lbs. or more regularly and occasionally more than that. Steel-toed shoes are required for safety. The company provides a vehicle, uniforms, tools, cell phone, tablet, and gas card, and you will attend weekly meetings at the service center while otherwise working independently on your route.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salem, NH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
