Job description

Position Summary:

JetBlue is looking for an Analyst for Route Planning based at JetBlue's Support Center in Long Island City, NY (LSC). The Route Planning team is responsible for determining JetBlue's growth strategy and maximizing the profitability of JetBlue's route network. The team's shorter-term responsibilities include actively determining new routes, optimizing service levels of existing routes, and performing ad-hoc network and competitive analyses. Longer-term responsibilities include working cross-functionally across the company to advise on significant fleet and strategic growth decisions. The ideal candidate has a passion for aviation, a deep understanding of airline route networks and strategy, strong problem-solving abilities, and developed quantitative and interpersonal skills. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of JetBlue's short and long term route network strategy
  • Analyze JetBlue's performance on a route by route basis, monitor industry capacity changes, and identify areas of opportunity
  • Assist with Route Planning budgetary processes including but not limited to: 5 year plans, profit and loss (P&L) documentation, and internal dashboards
  • Regularly update weekly and quarterly reporting for Network Planning leadership
  • Perform ad hoc fleet- and network-related projects in support of strategic decisions
  • Build relationships with airport partners across the route network
  • Support other teams including the Operations Planning, Commercial, Finance, Government Affairs, Corporate Communications, and Investor Relations
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • One (1) year of work experience in aviation, finance, management consulting, or a related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Candidates must demonstrate Excel skills in a work sample assessment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication ability
  • Available for overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience with database querying (e.g., SQL), automation languages (e.g., Python, R), and data visualization (e.g., Tableau) strongly preferred

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture-that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Promote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $67,000.00 and $101,000.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
