Job description

As a Route Driver, you will help transport individuals with disabilities using organization vehicles (wheelchair accessible passenger van and/or mini bus). Transportation includes picking up and dropping off consumers from their homes and the Vodec Center. Additionally, staff will assist consumers with boarding and exiting the vehicle.

  • No experience required - on the job training!
  • Wage: $17.50 per hour
  • Part-time: Monday-Friday (10 hours per week)
  • Shifts: PM shift 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Location: Omaha, NE
  • Bonus: $1,000 (paid in one increment after six months of continued employment)

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive vehicle to transport consumers over specified routes
  • Follow the local (and/or rural route) of transportation as assigned by your supervisor
  • Complete transportation schedules within appropriate time frames
  • Perform simple vehicle emergency functions (change tires, seek help and assistance)
  • Report delays or accidents according to the organizationโ€™s policies
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort
  • Assist passengers on and off the vehicle
  • Inspect vehicle and maintains adequate fluid levels

Qualifications Include

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Satisfactory driving record (no more than three moving violations in the most recent 36-month period)
  • Valid driverโ€™s license appropriate for vehicle type being required to operate
  • Must be able to pass a background check
