Job description

Route Truck Driver

The ROUTE TRUCK DRIVER works under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, Assistant Manager or Team Leader; responsible for providing our customers with dependable, safe, consistent, professional and friendly service.

Vision: To be the leading and most trusted provider of tires and services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and handling complaints professionally.
  2. Utilize ELog Pre-trip interface to conduct daily pre-route vehicle inspections.
  3. Transport and deliver items to customers on assigned route in a safe, timely manner.
  4. Responsible for unloading truck efficiently, accurately and in organized manner.
  5. Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor on any issues or concerns.
  6. Responsible for making sure all loads are secure and locked until reaching destination.
  7. Responsible for obeying all traffic laws, and K&M specific Cell Phone and driving policies.
  8. Responsible for using Signature Capture phone to verify and collect COD payments, and attaining a proof of delivery signature at the time of delivery.
  9. Responsible for maintaining complete ELog compliance on a daily basis according to regulations.
  10. Adhering to assigned route travel path established to satisfy customer needs and efficiency.
  11. Responsible for working safely and in a professional manner at all times.
  12. Responsible for keeping inside of truck clean.
  13. Must support management decisions and company goals.
  14. Must be willing to assist with warehouse duties if needed or requested.
  15. Perform other duties as appropriate and assigned.
  16. Support company goals and uphold K&M Values.
  17. Responsible for training new drivers on all job duties and responsibilities. (level III)
  18. Considered a "field expert" in consistent Elog compliance and willingness to teach others (level III)
  19. Able to perform new hire driver road test (level III)

Job Requirements:

  1. Must have valid driver's license issued by working state and a clean driving record.
  2. Special licenses may be required to operate certain vehicles or in certain states.
  3. Must be 21 or older.
  4. Ability to learn tire knowledge and exercise brand and size accuracy.
  5. Ability to communicate and express ideas effectively.
  6. Possess a friendly, helpful, positive attitude.
  7. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

Route Driver I Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to read/understand U.S. Highway traffic signs and signals.
  • Must have two years' work experience

Route Driver II Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualifications for Route Driver I; plus
  • 3+ years' experience driving a commercial vehicle

Route Driver III Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualifications for Route Driver II; plus
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5-year minimum experience driving a commercial vehicle
