We are currently hiring Full-Time Healthcare Security Guards based out of Ponoka, Alberta. This position offers a unique 7-on/7-off rotation, providing a predictable schedule and extended time off while building a rewarding career in healthcare security.

This role supports healthcare facilities throughout the surrounding service area, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy variety in their work and are comfortable traveling to nearby communities when required.

Whether you're beginning your security career or looking for your next opportunity, Paladin provides the training, support, and career development to help you succeed. No security licence? No problem. We will help successful candidates obtain their Alberta Security Services Licence as part of the onboarding process.

Position Details
  • Location: Ponoka, Alberta
  • Position Type: Full-Time
  • Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off Rotation
  • Rotation:
    • 7 consecutive day shifts
    • 7 days off
    • 7 consecutive night shifts
    • 7 days off
  • Travel to nearby healthcare facilities within the service area may be required.
  • Mileage reimbursement is provided for eligible travel over 50 km one way, creating an opportunity for additional earnings.
  • Scheduled employees receive a guaranteed base rate even if no shift is available, although employees are typically assigned work on approximately 95–100% of scheduled shifts.
  • Training is provided prior to your start date.
The Role

Healthcare Security Guards play an important role in protecting patients, visitors, healthcare professionals, and hospital property while creating a safe and respectful environment.

No two shifts are the same. You'll combine strong communication, professionalism, customer service, and problem-solving skills while responding to a variety of situations in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • Monitoring patient safety throughout the facility
  • Conducting interior and exterior patrols
  • Controlling access to restricted areas
  • Responding to alarms, emergencies, and requests for assistance
  • Monitoring CCTV and security systems
  • Supporting healthcare staff during challenging situations
  • Using communication and de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts safely
  • Identifying and reporting security concerns or safety hazards
  • Completing accurate incident reports and documentation
  • Providing exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff

Requirements

The ideal candidate:

  • Enjoys helping others and serving their community
  • Has excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Remains calm and professional in high-pressure situations
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Is comfortable traveling to healthcare facilities within the service area
  • Can work both day and night shifts on a rotating schedule

No previous security experience is required. An Alberta Security Services Licence is an asset, but successful candidates who do not currently hold a licence will receive support and guidance through the licensing process before beginning work.
