GENERAL PURPOSE: Ross Stores is launching a brand-new distribution center, and we're excited to hire our first Controls Engineer to help build and support the facility. Primary responsibilities are to perform controls engineering functions in support of Capital Projects, Process Improvement and Maintenance teams with design, development, optimization, maintenance and obsolescence of automated material handling equipment and warehouse control systems in all the Distribution Centers. The Controls Engineer will configure, design and overview control systems for industrial material handling solutions.

This includes development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, PLC logic, SCADA systems and implementing solutions which deliver exceptional value. Controls Engineer will also work closely with project teams to provide input on design of systems which meet or exceed the project requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Controls and Automation as it relates to Capital Projects.

o Support on-site commissioning, to implement and validate control systems design with Integrator. o Review vendor's Control Systems specifications and scope documentation. o Perform control systems obsolescence conversions.

o Create, controls sequence of operation, process flow diagram and ensure design meets requirement. o Design/overview system layouts, schematics and control devices. o Design SIL rated systems, based on functional safety per IEC 61508.

Including software verification and validation. o Maintain a Control Systems progress schedule that relates to project milestones for each project. Control Systems SME, responsible for Optimizing and Supporting Distribution Center Control Systems.

o Optimize/troubleshoot and write PLC and HMI programs. o Configure HMIs, VFDs, and RTUs. o Configure and troubleshoot SCADA and DCS systems.

o Perform control systems modeling and simulation. o Robotize material handling processes. o Design and optimize automated machine vision applications.

o Configuration/design Machine Control Remote Access using Cellular or VPN. o Assist Troubleshooting Fieldbus networks, such as Ethernet / IP, Profibus, ControlNet o As an SME, work closely with warehouse control systems team to investigate/integrate Controls solutions. o Provide / overview documentation and support for field wiring.

o Provide direction, train, and guide controls technicians at the distribution centers. o As an SME, provide Control Systems technical support and training to local users. o Work closely with DC Operations and Distribution Engineers, for achieving Controls reporting and dashboards.

Provide Predictive/Preventative analytics/KPIs. o Design and implement Control Systems changes and improvements. o Perform other Control Systems related tasks/duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES: Quality Self-Driven Analysis & Judgment Collaboration Implementation Innovation Communication Technical Acumen QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field from an accredited university (4-Year Degree) Relevant course work in Control Systems. Functional familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers, software and hardware. Intermediate knowledge of ADC/DAC systems, controls modeling and simulation tools.

In-depth understanding of computer networks. Have a strong interest in Industrial Automation. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Be self-motivated. Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines. Willing to learn and grow with the Company.

Demonstrate creative thinking. Energetic, friendly, outgoing, and proactive personality. Preferred: Have experience with Allen-Bradley HW/SW platforms.

Early-career in Controls/Automation industry. Hands-on experience with industrial networks. Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) Working knowledge of AutoCAD Have experience with SCADA systems.

Configuring HMIs and RTUs. Effective programming skills in Ladder Logic and IEC-61131-3 languages. Basic knowledge in industrial programming languages.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA: This position requires the ability to work in an office environment, including using a computer, attending meetings, working as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with team members and others. Regular attendance also is a requirement of the position. Will require frequent driving and/or traveling overnight for business functions or site visits.

Available to support critical business recovery needs as requested on any day and shifts (24 hours a day, 6 days a week operations) Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically. Up to 50% travel.

Will require frequent driving and/or traveling overnight for business functions or site visits. Contingent on project and site support related requirements. This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback.

However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
