Job description

Summary of Position GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for the general operations at the Jackson Community Center. Duties may include, but are not limited to, unlocking and locking rooms, answering phones, room setup and take down, directing and providing outstanding customer service to patrons and members, accepting registrations and maintaining a safe and controlled environment. Independently perform work of a recurring and regular nature in accordance with established and well-known policies, procedures, and practices.

Progress of work is checked and instruction is provided to accomplish work involving unusual problems or the use of unfamiliar equipment. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Parks & Recreation Department Operations Manager. This position is part-time (non-exempt) with a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Hours and schedules may vary. Essential Duties & Responsibilities SPECIFIC POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain presence at the main reception desk and uses the intercom and phone system to communicate. Direct patrons and members to the proper areas.

Answer any questions while maintaining outstanding customer service. Assist instructors and staff with class packets and any special requirements. Accept registrations and memberships for Parks & Recreation Programs.

Answer phone calls and directs to proper channels. Turn out lights and lock doors and windows upon completion of programs. Responsible for the safety and well being of patrons in the case of an emergency.

MUST follow the "Emergency Plan" in event of an emergency, evacuation, incident/accident. Perform daily maintenance, as needed & requested. Daily duty sheets will be provided.

Responsible for the specific setup and take down of various rentals, many times, multiple rentals at a time. This includes moving tables, chairs etc... Make sure rooms are set back to their original position and garbage is properly taken out after each rental

At all times, responsible and maintain a safe and controlled environment for the safety and well being of all patrons and members. Make sure the entire building is locked, secured and alarmed before leaving. Other duties or functions may be required from time to time, and thus the information above is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities for this role.

Education and/or Experience Required EDUCATION AND PRIOR TRAINING: The position requires at least one year working with people in a customer service type setting and a solid understanding of computers. The position does not require a license or certification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of, or ability to learn basic computer skills.

Must have a friendly, outgoing, helpful personality. The ability to mop, clean and lift heavy items when necessary. Understands the functions and promotes the Parks & Recreation Department.
