Job description

The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, training, and management of the food service operation. Ensure that appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to and conveys a philosophy that supports the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents
  • Responsible for staff scheduling on a biweekly basis if a FSD is not in the staffing pattern.
  • Supervises and manages the front house operation of the Dining Room Services Department; including training and managing the workflow of the department and/or supervises and manages the back of house operation of the kitchen area.
  • Ensures Dining Room areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner and assures compliance with the State sanitation code
  • Maintains all serving schedules; ensure that all food items are served per menu specifications in a safe and appropriate manner according to departmental policies and procedures
  • Maintains temperature logs
  • Ensures costs are maintained within established budgetary guidelines
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and all company policies
  • Leads team by example through adherence to community standards and guidelines
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Physical Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation (e.g., Food Protection Mangement Certification, annual certification)
  • Ability to instruct others in service and sanitations tasks
  • Ability to supervise the service of food; good interpersonal skills
  • Able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds, to occasionally life more than 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time standing
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) ordering Platforms (i.e., DSSI, Sysco), and proficiency with internet usage.

Education & Experience:

  • Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations regarding food practices and handling required
  • Safe Food Manager certificate
  • Two years of progressive and relevant experience
  • Experience in supervising
  • Prefer experience in overseeing the serving of meals
