What does 'room and board included' mean in a job offer?

'Room and board included' in a job offer means that the employer will provide you with a place to live (room) and meals (board) as part of your compensation package. This is common in jobs such as live-in caregivers, camp counselors, or hotel staff. The provided housing and meals are usually on-site or very close to the workplace. While this benefit can reduce your living expenses, it may also affect your overall salary offer. Be sure to clarify what is included and if there are any additional costs or rules associated with the accommodation.

Living arrangements can range from private rooms to shared staff housing, depending on the employer and location. It's important to clarify details such as privacy, access to facilities, meal types, and any rules about guests or curfews before accepting the offer. This arrangement can help you save on living expenses, but adapting to a communal environment and employer-set schedules may be a daily part of the experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Residential Advisor, and why are they important?
