Job description

Radiology Department Support

Provides customer service and administrative support for the Radiology department. Serves as a key point of contact for patients, clinicians, and technologists. Responsible for scheduling appointments, managing referrals, conducting patient outreach, and supporting departmental operations. Works independently to coordinate patient access, improve workflow efficiency, and ensure smooth communication between patients, providers, and imaging staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient flow, scheduling, and appointment availability
  • Schedule imaging exams and follow-up appointments
  • Assist with referral processing and coordinate communication with other departments
  • Contact patients regarding appointments and follow-up care
  • Determine urgency of appointments and appropriately prioritize scheduling needs
  • Verify insurance coverage and patient demographic information
  • Collect co-pays and deductibles for imaging services
  • Make appointment reminder calls
  • Process requests for copies of imaging records and CDs
  • Maintain department check-in processes and patient flow
  • Monitor referral/work queues and follow up on open referrals
  • Schedule appointment requests and assist with patient checkout as needed
  • Coordinate image sharing, retrieval of outside imaging, and PACS/EMR updates
  • Track internal and external imaging records according to department policies
  • Communicate imaging results to outside providers following department protocols
  • Maintain an organized and welcoming waiting room
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new radiology support staff
  • Provide backup coverage for support staff and support multiple regional locations as needed
  • Address routine patient concerns and complaints
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent
  • Computer proficiency and ability to use healthcare technology systems
  • Proven solid customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proven ability to use standard office equipment and electronic applications
  • Proven ability to work in a busy medical office environment with frequent interruptions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Assisting or Medical Office Administration certificate program
  • EMR experience or aptitude to learn and master EMR systems
  • Business experience, including cash handling/collections
  • Experience in a medical or clinical setting
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
  • Healthcare business office experience
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.91 - $29.88 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
