Job description


The commercial roofing sales and estimator is the company's front line in providing value and solutions for customers and contribution to the company's sales goals. This position requires a strong degree of ownership and self-motivation, while also being team oriented. Success in this role will be measured by meeting sales goals, completing accurate estimates and supporting the overall goals of the company. Physical needs will include handling and climbing ladders and not having a fear of heights. Some overnight travel is necessary. This position reports directly to the sales manager.

Responsibilities Include:



  • Timely response to new customer estimate requests
  • Take ownership for measuring, estimating and selling all assigned sales opportunities
  • Understanding the needs of customers and proposing appropriate solutions based on the company's product offerings.
  • Attention to detail and accurate measuring and documentation of technical roof data and estimate calculations
  • Work with the sales manager on planning and logistics of estimate workload
  • Keeping all notes and required information up to date in the company's CRM system
  • Provide feedback to the management team on sales and marketing challenges encountered in the selling process
  • Process all required documentation when a job is sold
  • Ensure that all jobs are invoiced correctly and provide all necessary billing information to the accounting department
  • Ensure timely collection of all customer outstanding billings
  • Be the liaison between the customer and the roofing operations department
  • Work with the Roofing Operations team to ensure a smooth roof installation
  • Review completed job cost information and provide feedback and information on job results
  • Complete all required daily tasks and communications in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain and work to continuously improve selling and negotiation skills
  • Take ownership of any customer problems that arise before a sale, during installation and after job completion and follow the problem through to resolution
  • Learn and maintain working knowledge of commercial roof systems
  • Follow up with every customer, once a job is complete
  • Manage individual sales pipeline and make appropriate follow ups on pending opportunities
  • Make efforts to generate sales opportunities outside relying on the company's marketing efforts
