Join Romac as our Director of Engineering, a newly created leadership role driven by continued company growth. In this role, you'll lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians while setting the strategic direction for multiple product lines. You'll play a key role in driving product innovation, strengthening manufacturing processes, and ensuring Romac continues to deliver high-quality, American-made waterworks products that support sustainable water distribution and long-term success.
If you don't have direct experience in the waterworks industry, that's okay as long as you're curious and eager to learn. We welcome candidates with similar backgrounds in metal fabrication, cast products, or related industries.
What You'll Do
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for a team of 15-20 engineers and technicians
  • Lead product development initiatives from concept through full-scale production, ensuring cost, quality, and performance objectives are met
  • Apply technical expertise to integrate innovative features, resolve production challenges, and establish engineering standards
  • Drive process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and ROI analysis for new tooling and equipment
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, marketing, and quality teams to align product development with customer and market needs

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a people management or leadership role
  • Experience engineering cast, machined, or fabricated metal components in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to drive process and organizational improvements
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with proficiency in SolidWorks and standard office tools

Base Compensation Range: $146,400-$234,200. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. Our salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance.
Benefits: At Romac, investing in our people is a top priority. In addition to competitive and equitable pay, employees are eligible for a quarterly discretionary profit-sharing bonus and a year-end bonus. We also provide comprehensive benefits to support employees and their families, including medical, dental, and vision insurance (with a 100% employer-paid medical plan option for employee-only coverage), a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, flexible spending accounts (FSAs), an employee assistance program (EAP), paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, and cell phone discounts.
Why Join Romac?
