Compensation: $26.92 per hour (+$2 per hour shift differential)

Schedule: 3rd shift Sunday - Thursday, 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.

A Brief Summary of This Position
The Slitter Operator 7 positions coils for slitting and operates the entry side of the machine from Operator stations 1 and 2. This position also performs set up on the slitter arbors. This includes using setup software correctly, building, and inspecting arbors once setup is complete. Checks horizontal and vertical clearances. Sets up separator discs and spacers to ensure proper fan out on the overarm.
Operates uncoiler, hold-down roller, peeler table, flattener roller, crop shear, pinch rolls, side guides, & slitter head. This position may also support operations by transporting coils to the mills using a shag truck and trailer. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring compliance with quality control standards. This role provides a clear growth path, with the opportunity to advance to Slitter Operator 9 within two years.


Essential Functions

  • Properly position coils for slitting

  • Perform set ups as needed on the slitter arbors

  • Build and inspect arbors once set up is complete

  • Perform regular checks to ensure horizontal and vertical clearances

  • Set up separator discs and spacers to ensure proper fan out on the overarm

  • Operate other equipment in the slitter area including an uncoiler, hold-down rollers, peeler table, flattener rollers, crop shear, side guides, and slitter head

  • Operator shag truck as needed to haul coils to mills

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • 1-3 years relevant work experience

  • A valid driver's license

  • Ability to learn shag truck operations

  • Ability to convert fractions to decimals

  • The ability to accurately read a tape measure

  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

  • The ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50lbs with the most frequent lift under 21 lbs.

  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • Prior CNC machining experience or experience operating a slitter

  • 1+ years' experience operating an overhead crane
