Job description

Assistant Baseball Coach
Corner Canyon is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Baseball Coach to join our athletic program. This position is ideal for someone with previous coaching or playing experience who is passionate about developing student-athletes and contributing to a strong, positive, and competitive team culture.
We have a talented and committed group of athletes, a supportive community, and a tradition of excellence in our athletic programs. The Assistant Baseball Coach will work closely with the head coach to mentor, train, and educate athletes while serving as a positive role model and promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, safety, and academic success.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning and conducting practices, providing instruction in baseball skills, techniques, strategies, conditioning, and game preparation.
  • Assist with conducting tryouts and selecting athletes who will represent the school.
  • Help athletes develop their abilities, maintain physical fitness, and prepare to compete effectively under pressure.
  • Foster a positive team environment that promotes good sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
  • Teach and reinforce team, school, and district policies related to school-sponsored athletics.
  • Promote athlete safety and injury prevention and ensure appropriate safety practices are followed.
  • Provide supervision during practices, locker room activities, games, competitions, and team trips.
  • Comply with all school and district policies, as well as Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) rules, regulations, and requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, families, and school personnel.
  • Complete required reports, forms, and other documentation.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all student-athletes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Previous baseball playing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively teach, communicate with, and motivate high school-aged student-athletes.
  • Commitment to developing student-athletes both athletically and personally.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach and other members of the athletic program.
Required Onboarding
  • Candidates must complete all required UHSAA courses, new-hire paperwork, and their Register My Athlete/coach account within two weeks of hire and before beginning any coaching duties.
