Job Summary:
Repair industrial machinery; such as, air compressors (5-500HP), positive displacement and liquid ring pumps, refrigerated and desiccant dryers, and vacuum systems at various customer sites. Train customer staff in the operation of compressed air machinery.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Read/follow sketches, schematics, blueprints, manufacturer's specifications, and maintenance manuals to determine troubleshooting procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform repairs using system troubleshooting methodology and diagnostic tools.
  • Interpret readings on gages, indicators, and dials.
  • Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
  • Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem area, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Realign and adjust components.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical circuits, mechanics, and pneumatics.
  • Verify that electrical power is reaching the compressed air equipment, and that voltage is as specified, using testing instruments.
  • Test electrical components, such as wiring, switches, and relays, using test instruments, and replace faulty components.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs with diagnostic tools.
  • Locate damaged air pipes on machine; may measure, cut threads or install pipe.
  • Repair broken parts, using brazing, soldering & welding equipment and hand tools.
  • Start machine and equipment to test operation following repair.

Additional Job Duties:
  • Work with customers to inspect installation site to verify electrical supply wiring, conduit, switches and circuit breakers installed according to specs.
  • May train Rogers Technicians in the operation of compressed air machinery.
  • Maintain company vehicles.
  • Organize and manage truck stock parts and tools.
  • Complete timecards, work orders & paperwork legibly and in a timely manner.
  • Position includes "on-call" as needed.
  • Some overtime work and occasional overnight travel.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of compressor maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • Specialized Training: Mechanics, Refrigeration, Electrical Circuitry
  • Oil-Free compressed air systems knowledge required.
  • Must have EPA 608 license and refrigeration training.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to recognize common mechanical and electrical components.
  • Apply system troubleshooting skills effectively.
  • Effective customer relations skills.

Physical Demands:
  • Exert force of 50 lbs. occasionally, 25-50 lbs. frequently, 10-20 lbs. constantly.
  • Bend, twist, crawl, push, pull, reach, climb, stand in the active position of working on heavy industrial equipment.
