How much do robotics internships jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 16, 2026, the average yearly pay for robotics internships in Arizona is $89,461.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $83,900.00 and $95,100.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What types of projects or tasks do robotics interns typically work on?

Robotics interns are often involved in supporting the design, development, and testing of robotic systems, which may include hands-on assembly, programming, simulation, and troubleshooting tasks. You might help build prototypes, write and debug code for robot behaviors, or conduct research to improve existing components. Interns frequently collaborate with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, learning how to integrate hardware and software solutions. The specific tasks can vary depending on the company's focus, but you'll gain valuable real-world experience working on projects that contribute directly to ongoing product development.

What is a Robotics Internships job?

A robotics internship is a temporary position designed for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in robotics engineering, programming, and automation. Interns may work on tasks like designing, testing, and programming robotic systems under the guidance of experienced engineers. These internships help develop technical skills in areas such as machine learning, computer vision, and hardware development. They are typically offered by tech companies, research labs, or manufacturing firms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Robotics Internships position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Robotics Internship, you need a solid understanding of robotics principles, programming (such as Python or C++), and basic electronics, typically gained through coursework in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Experience with industry-standard tools like ROS (Robot Operating System), simulation software, and hands-on experience in building or programming robots are highly valuable. Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication are essential soft skills. These qualifications ensure you can quickly contribute to project goals, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and develop practical solutions to complex robotics challenges.

  • Assist customers and internal teams in defining and implementing 3D printing and robotics applications.
  • Support sales engineers with technical consultation on additive manufacturing solutions.
  • Design, build, and test 3D-printed parts and assemblies.
  • Operate and maintain 3D printing systems (e.g., FDM, PolyJet, or similar technologies).
  • Assist in building and integrating robotic or automated systems.
  • Create and modify CAD models for additive manufacturing using common CAD tools.
  • Apply Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles under guidance.
  • Participate in iterative design, prototyping, and testing processes.
  • Help diagnose and resolve issues with 3D printing equipment, materials, and printed parts.
  • Support debugging of robotic systems and mechanical assemblies.
  • Assist in preparing technical documentation, reports, and application notes.
  • Support training sessions and demonstrations for customers and internal teams.

  • Actively develop technical expertise through hands-on work, self-study, and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply).
  • 1+ years of experience through internships, academic projects, or personal projects in relevant areas.
  • Strong foundation in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing technologies (academic lab, makerspace, or internships).
  • Exposure to coursework or projects involving robotics, automation, or mechatronic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
  • Hands-on, self-starter attitude with a passion for building and experimenting.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with multiple 3D printing processes or materials.
