What We Look For In a Robotics Tutor
  • Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of robotics fundamentals including mechanical design, electronics, sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, programming for robots, control systems, and competition robotics platforms. Ability to explain sensor integration, PID control, gear ratios, and autonomous navigation while preparing students for robotics competitions, engineering coursework, and STEM career pathways.
  • Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching robot design, sensor programming, and autonomous behavior development. Guides students through building mechanical structures, wiring electronic circuits, programming microcontrollers, integrating sensors for environmental feedback, and troubleshooting robot behavior. Emphasizes iterative design and engineering problem-solving and connects robotics to mechanical engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence applications.
  • Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with robotics curricula and competition platforms including FIRST, VEX, and Arduino-based programs, and common challenges such as debugging hardware-software integration, understanding control systems, and managing team-based design projects. Adapts instruction using hands-on building activities, programming tutorials, and competition preparation to support students from elementary introductory robotics through advanced competition and engineering levels.
  • Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
