Job description

Purpose:

Production Engineering Manager (HOP) is responsible for improving productivity and profit at plant and drive quality improvement through root cause analysis, ensure products are manufactured in compliance with customer specifications, safety standards and design specifications.



Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
  • Leading Production Engineering team members as HOP and coordinate tasks with relevant team in the organization
  • Communicate with Global Production Engineering HQ in Korea as a counterpart and lead the tasks directed by GPE team.
  • Implementation of processes including equipment procurement, coordination of installation,

process Capability prove-out, training, process documentation and production start-up.

  • Contribute to the product introduction process with respect to cost estimation, process

investigation, schedule development, product validation and product validation testing.

  • Maintain and modify machines for new generation vehicle.
  • Review production problems as they are identified on regular basis and implement solutions.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Production Manager and other departments to implement processes and equipment.
  • Work closely with maintenance team to troubleshoot machine problems and develop PM programs.
  • Work closely with production and production quality team to ensure that target production and quality goal is achieved.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering or related majors.
  • Minimum 7 years of automotive industry experience is required
  • IATF quality system knowledge is required
  • Tooling and fixture design experience preferred.
  • Experience with robotics and industrial controls preferred.
  • Bilingual language (Korean) preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Mandatory skill of drawing interpretation, jig & fixture design & pneumatic system understanding.
  • 6 Sigma, Mini-tap experience preferred.
  • Be proficient in MS Office, Auto-Cad. - Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
  • Interpersonal Skills (relationship building, teamwork, conflict resolution, customer orientation).
  • Communication (Verbal communication, listening, written communication).
  • Performance Skills (accuracy with detail, planning and organizing, efficiency).
  • Personal Characteristic (motivation and commitment, flexibility, assertiveness, development orientation)


Legal Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal labor law requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.


Supervisory Responsibility: Management of PE Team Members

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent work in office and manufacturing floor.
  • Constant requirement of wearing PPE.
  • Occasional weekends/OT, rotating on-call, rare travel required


Physical Requirements:

  • Constant requirement of using computer and office equipment.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Rare requirement of lifting, carrying, or pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs.

Remote Work: This position is not eligible for hybrid or remote work.
