Robotics Deployment Engineer information

What is a robotics deployment engineer?

Robotics Deployment Engineers are professionals who specialize in installing, integrating, and configuring robotic systems in real-world settings. They work closely with clients to ensure robots are properly set up, tested, and optimized for specific operational needs. Their responsibilities often include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing on-site support, and training staff on using robotic equipment. These engineers play a critical role in making sure robotics technology transitions smoothly from the lab or factory to its intended application environment.

What are some typical challenges faced by robotics deployment engineers during on-site installations?

Robotics Deployment Engineers often encounter challenges such as adapting to varying facility layouts, integrating new robotic systems with existing infrastructure, and troubleshooting unexpected hardware or software issues during deployment. Communication and collaboration with local IT, operations, and maintenance teams are key to overcoming these obstacles, as each site may present unique requirements or constraints. Being flexible and solution-oriented is essential, as timelines can be tight and successful deployment often hinges on quickly resolving integration and performance concerns.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a robotics deployment engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Robotics Deployment Engineer, you need a strong background in robotics, mechanical or electrical engineering, and experience with system integration, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with programming languages (such as Python or C++), robotics middleware (like ROS), and hands-on experience with automation hardware and control systems are typically essential. Problem-solving, adaptability, and excellent communication skills help you coordinate with cross-functional teams and address client needs effectively. These skills ensure successful on-site deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization of robotic systems in diverse environments.

We are seeking an accomplished industrial sales professional to expand the adoption of AI-enabled robotics solutions across their region. This individual will develop business with manufacturers, warehouse operators, distribution centers, logistics providers, third-party logistics companies, and organizations responsible for large-scale facility operations.

You will guide customers from initial discovery and proof of concept through successful validation, broader fleet deployment, and multi-location expansion.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build relationships with operational, engineering, supply-chain, procurement, safety, technology, and executive stakeholders.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle, including prospecting, discovery, solution development, demonstrations, proposals, negotiations, and closing.
  • Evaluate customer operations and identify applications for robotics, material handling, inspection, and workflow automation.
  • Convert successful pilot programs into fleet-scale deployments, recurring programs, and multi-site expansions.
  • Establish high-value customer deployments that can serve as successful reference accounts.
  • Partner with pre-sales application engineers on demonstrations, technical validation, site assessments, installation, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with channel-development professionals and system integrators when opportunities are supported through partner relationships.
  • Represent the organization at industrial conferences, automation events, customer meetings, and trade shows.
  • Travel regularly throughout the region to support sales meetings, site evaluations, demonstrations, pilots, and deployments.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of B2B sales experience involving industrial automation, capital equipment, robotics, material handling, manufacturing technology, intralogistics, or warehouse solutions.
  • Demonstrated success selling to manufacturers, warehouse operators, distribution centers, logistics providers, 3PL organizations, or similar industrial customers.
  • Strong understanding of industrial purchasing processes and multi-stakeholder capital-equipment sales cycles.
  • Familiarity with applications involving mobile robotics, AGVs, AMRs, material movement, inspection, workflow automation, or facility operations.
  • Willingness to travel across territory/region.
  • Direct experience selling autonomous mobile robots, automated guided vehicles, material-handling equipment, industrial automation, or mobile robotics.
  • Experience selling Robotics-as-a-Service, subscription-based automation, or other recurring-revenue solutions.
  • Experience launching an emerging technology or building a new regional sales territory.
