What is a robotics analyst?

Robotics Analysts are professionals who study, evaluate, and optimize robotics systems and technologies. They analyze data from robotic operations, provide insights to improve efficiency, and help design solutions for integrating robotics into various industries. Their role often involves troubleshooting, system performance monitoring, and recommending upgrades or new technologies. Robotics Analysts frequently collaborate with engineers, programmers, and project managers to ensure robotics systems meet organizational goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a robotics analyst?

To thrive as a Robotics Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, programming proficiency (often in Python, C++, or ROS), and a background in robotics, engineering, or computer science. Familiarity with robotics simulation tools (like Gazebo or MATLAB), data analysis platforms, and certifications in robotics or automation technologies are highly valuable. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you interpret complex data and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. These skills are crucial for optimizing robotic systems, ensuring efficient automation processes, and driving innovation in robotics applications.

What are some common challenges faced by robotics analysts when integrating new robotic systems into existing workflows?

Robotics Analysts often encounter challenges such as ensuring compatibility between new robotic systems and legacy equipment, managing data integration, and minimizing workflow disruptions during implementation. They must also address staff training needs and troubleshoot unexpected technical issues that arise during deployment. Proactive communication with cross-functional teams and thorough testing are key strategies for overcoming these challenges and ensuring a smooth integration process.

What is the difference between Robotics Analyst vs Robotics Engineer?

AspectRobotics AnalystRobotics Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Robotics, Engineering, or related field; certifications in robotics or automationBachelor's or Master's in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering; certifications in robotics design and programming
Work EnvironmentData analysis, system evaluation, troubleshooting in labs or office settingsDesign, develop, and test robotic systems in labs or manufacturing facilities
Employer & Industry UsageTech companies, manufacturing, research institutionsManufacturing, automation, aerospace, research and development

Robotics Analysts focus on evaluating robotic systems, analyzing data, and optimizing automation processes. Robotics Engineers are involved in designing, building, and testing robotic systems. While both roles require technical skills and certifications, Analysts primarily work on system evaluation, whereas Engineers develop new robotic solutions.

  • COMPENSATION: $40.00 to $50.00/Hour ($83,200 โ€“ $104,000 baseline annual target scaling with technical depth) + Premium Overtime + Full Benefits Package
  • WORK SCHEDULE: 1st Shift | High autonomy on ground-up custom automated cell builds
  • EDUCATION: 2-Year or 4-Year Engineering Degree required (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Software)
  • EXPERIENCE: 4 to 6 years of dedicated, hands-on experience executing robotic, PLC, and vision system integration tasks for custom industrial equipment
  • HARDWARE DEPTH: Current proficiency with Fanuc, Yaskawa, or ABB robotics platforms alongside master PLC troubleshooting capabilities
  • VISION SYSTEMS: Verifiable experience troubleshooting, positioning, and programming advanced industrial vision hardware/software platforms
  • TRAVEL PROFILE: 30% to 40% domestic and international travel for high-impact system commissioning and client site installations
  • REQUIREMENTS: Valid Driverโ€™s License and Passport capability; residing within a 45-minute daily commute of the Greater Milwaukee area (North Milwaukee / Brown Deer vicinity)

If you are an experienced robotics specialist looking to step away from repetitive field service or line maintenance and own high-complexity, ground-up custom automation projects, this senior-level seat is built for you. The employer is a premier, privately held automation leader with a century-long legacy of engineering excellence, designing complex turnkey automated systems deployed globally across automotive, consumer goods, and industrial sectors.

Operating with a supportive, non-bureaucratic culture that deeply respects engineering craftsmanship, this organization gives you total project ownership. You will lead robotic builds from initial cell design kickoff and physical in-house build, through shop-floor debug, and ultimately to high-impact commissioning on client factory floors worldwide.

What You Will Be Doing (Daily Responsibilities)
  • Initialize Robotic Platforms: Execute ground-up cell setups, coordinate calibrations, and I/O communication network configurations on Fanuc, ABB, or Yaskawa robotics.
  • Design Control Logic & Architecture: Program robot cell architecture to ensure seamless handshaking and logic coordination with master PLC controllers and standalone equipment.
  • Deploy Industrial Vision Systems: Integrate, configure, and program advanced industrial vision hardware and software platforms for precise part guidance, inspection, and handling.
  • Lead In-House Assembly & Debug: Partner with project engineering teams through full shop-floor assembly, control wiring verification, and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) integration.
  • Execute Field Commissioning: Travel 30โ€“40% to oversee on-site deployment, mechanical/electrical startup, and final commissioning with global manufacturing partners.
  • Support Applications Engineering: Provide technical layout insights, cycle-time analyses, and feasibility data for prospective customer designs and quotes.
  • Provide Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Guide in-house assembly personnel and junior technicians to optimize build workflows and adhere to client specifications.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements & Qualifications)
  • Education: 2-Year or 4-Year Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Software Engineering).
  • 4 to 6 years of dedicated industrial robotics & PLC integration experience on custom manufacturing machinery.
  • Robotics & Controls Depth: Hands-on mastery of Fanuc, Yaskawa, or ABB robot platforms combined with advanced PLC troubleshooting skills.
  • Vision & Digital Tools: Hands-on proficiency with industrial vision systems, offline simulation tools, and CAD/SolidWorks software.
  • Multidisciplinary Troubleshooting: Expert ability to diagnose and debug complex automated machinery across robotic, electrical, fluid power, and mechanical domains.
  • Travel Willingness: Ability to travel 30% to 40% domestically and internationally (valid Driver's License and active Passport capability required).
  • Employment Reliability: A dependable, progressive career history demonstrating strong technical tenure and long-term commitment.
  • Local Proximity: Residing within a 45-minute commuting radius of the Greater Milwaukee, WI area.
