Job Title: AI Business Process Engineer (GCCS / JPES)
Location(s): Fort Meade, Maryland
Hours: Regular Full-Time
Salary Range: $110k/yr - $143k/yr

What you will be doing:
We are seeking an innovative AI Business Process Engineer (AI-BPE) with experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) environments to transform mission and business processes through AI-enabled automation, data-driven decision-making, and digital engineering practices. This role bridges operational workflows and advanced analytics, ensuring AI capabilities are effectively embedded into DoD mission processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and document AS-IS / TO-BE processes, identifying opportunities for AI/ML, automation, and advanced analytics integration
  • Design and implement AI-enabled workflows that enhance mission planning, execution, and operational efficiency
  • Translate operational requirements into AI use cases, data requirements, and process improvements
  • Develop process artifacts:
    • BPMN diagrams, swimlanes, and workflow models
    • AI-enabled decision trees and automation flows
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing enterprise systems and mission applications
  • Collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists, and systems engineers to operationalize AI within processes
  • Identify and implement Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and intelligent automation solutions
  • Define and track KPIs and performance metrics to measure AI-driven process improvements
  • Support data governance, data readiness, and labeling strategies for AI adoption
  • Ensure compliance with DoD AI ethical principles, RMF, and Zero Trust frameworks
  • Lead change management and user adoption efforts for AI-enabled processes
  • Support DevSecOps and continuous improvement cycles for AI-integrated workflows

Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
  • 5-10 years of experience in business process engineering, operations analysis, or digital transformation
  • Experience supporting DoD, federal agencies, or government contractors
  • Demonstrated experience:
    • Mapping and optimizing complex workflows
    • Identifying automation and AI opportunities within business processes
  • Familiarity with:
    • AI/ML concepts and lifecycle (training, deployment, monitoring)
    • Process modeling tools (Visio, Lucidchart, or similar)
  • Experience working with:
    • Data-driven environments and analytics platforms
  • Understanding of:
    • DoD governance frameworks (RMF, policy compliance)

Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting DISA, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, or Service-level organizations
  • Familiarity with:
    • Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) or mission workflows
    • JADC2 and data-centric operations concepts
  • Experience with:
    • RPA tools (UiPath, Automation Anywhere, etc.)
    • AI-enabled analytics platforms (e.g., Palantir, Databricks)
    • Data engineering concepts (ETL pipelines, APIs)
  • Certifications:
    • Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt)
    • Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP)
