Job Description
Transformation Operational Improvement Consultant
This position has on-site expectations and must live within a commutable distance of our Los Angeles or Orange County offices.
What will I do?
  • Partner with clients across commercial and public sector organizations to improve business operations, processes, and ways of working to achieve measurable business outcomes.
  • Conduct operational assessments, stakeholder interviews, and workshops to identify performance challenges, root causes, and opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, customer experience, and business value.
  • Map howwork flows across roles, systems, data, and decision points to surface bottlenecks, rework, exceptions, control gaps, and value leakage.
  • Analyze and redesign end-to-end business processes, operating models, and governance approaches to enable sustainable improvements and support transformation initiatives.
  • Define future-state workflows, decision rights, KPIs, controls, and human + AI ways of working that help clients modernize operations and sustain value.
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions to align stakeholders on priorities, future-state solutions, implementation roadmaps, and value realization opportunities.
  • Develop business cases, improvement recommendations, performance metrics, and implementation plans that translate strategy into actionable results.
  • Build value cases with clear assumptions, value drivers, and benefits tracking so recommendations translate into practical, fundable plans.
  • Support the execution and adoption of operational improvements by helping clients establish performance management practices, governance structures, and continuous improvement capabilities.
  • Leverage data, analytics, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities to accelerate delivery and identify opportunities for additional business value, partnering with specialized SMEs as needed.
  • Identify and shape practical opportunities for process intelligence, workflow automation, decision support, and AI-enabled operational use cases in partnership with data, AI, engineering, and platform teams.
  • Contribute to Slalom's Transformation and Operational Improvement capability through solution development, knowledge sharing, and team mentorship.

What will I bring?
  • Demonstrated experience in operations improvement, process improvement, business transformation, operational excellence, management consulting, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated success delivering measurable improvements in operational performance, process efficiency, cost reduction, quality, customer experience, or risk management.
  • Experience leading process assessments, process mapping, workshop facilitation, root cause analysis, future-state design, and implementation planning.
  • Strong consulting, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence teams and leaders across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to translate complex business challenges into practical solutions that balance people, process, technology, data, and governance considerations.

  • Ability to connect process, technology, data, and governance considerations into integrated solutions rather than treating them as separate workstreams.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies, continuous improvement practices, operating model design, and organizational change concepts.
  • Understanding of how analytics, automation, and emerging AI capabilities can be applied to improve business operations and accelerate value realization.
  • Practical awareness of process intelligence, task mining, workflow automation, Power Platform, ServiceNow, RPA, or related modern operations technologies is preferred.
  • Experience working in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, energy, aerospace and defense, supply chain and logistics, or public sector organizations is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or similar process improvement certification is preferred but not required. Practical experience delivering operational and process improvement outcomes is more important than formal certification.
  • Pragmatic, outcome-focused mindset with curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn emerging tools and approaches.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Travel & On-site
  • Willingness to travel based on client and business needs, typically up to 25%.
  • Willingness to commute to either client site or Slalom office ~3 days a week to enable in-person connection to both clients and Slalom peers/leaders.Expectation includes working where operations happen, including client offices, plants, field settings, and other front-line operating environments when needed.

For this role, we are hiring at the following levels and targeted base pay salary ranges: The targeted base salary pay range for Consultant is $105,000 to $130,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
