Position Overview:
Lead the design, development, and integration of advanced automated test and control systems utilizing high-speed LabVIEW platforms in conjunction with PLC-based industrial control systems. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable system operation, synchronized communications, and accurate data acquisition across complex, multi-platform architectures. The position supports a broad range of test assets, from component-level development rigs to large-scale integrated qualification and validation facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and sustain LabVIEW-based applications for high-speed data acquisition, monitoring, and control.
  • Develop and maintain interfaces between LabVIEW platforms and PLC-controlled subsystems to enable seamless communication and coordinated operation.
  • Partner with controls engineers to integrate automation logic, safety interlocks, alarm management, and I/O functionality across platforms.
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation including wiring schematics, channel lists, loop diagrams, interface control documents, and system architecture drawings.
  • Interface with vendors, suppliers, and stakeholders to support system development, procurement activities, and technical evaluations.
  • Produce engineering analyses, test reports, and technical documentation to support project execution and system acceptance.
  • Establish and maintain software configuration management practices for LabVIEW, FPGA, automation, and test software assets.
  • Drive process improvement and automation initiatives utilizing Python, MATLAB, and emerging AI-enabled engineering tools.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Support system design reviews, troubleshooting efforts, commissioning activities, and operational readiness assessments for test facilities of varying complexity and scale.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, and modernization of automated test infrastructure and data acquisition systems.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience developing LabVIEW-based applications and integrating automated test systems.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing LabVIEW platforms with PLC-based control systems.
  • Experience supporting automated test facilities ranging from laboratory-scale systems to large integrated test environments.
  • Proven background in the design, implementation, validation, and operation of instrumentation and automated test systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear technical documentation and present engineering solutions.

Preferred Qualification:
  • National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) certification.
