How much do robotic automation jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 15, 2026, the average hourly pay for robotic automation in the United States is $28.24, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $22.12 and $32.93 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Robotic Automation, and why are they important?

To thrive in Robotic Automation, you need strong analytical skills, programming knowledge (such as Python or C++), and a background in engineering or computer science. Familiarity with robotic process automation (RPA) tools like UiPath, Blue Prism, or Automation Anywhere, and relevant certifications, are typically required. Problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with teams and troubleshooting automation challenges. These skills and qualifications ensure the efficient design, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems that drive productivity and innovation.

What is the highest paying job in robotics?

The highest paying jobs in robotics are typically senior roles such as Robotics Engineering Managers, Robotics Directors, or Lead Robotics Engineers, often earning six-figure salaries. These positions require advanced technical skills, extensive experience, and often involve overseeing large projects or teams in industrial, aerospace, or research settings.

Is robotics and automation a good career?

Robotic automation is a growing field offering opportunities in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics. It requires skills in programming, engineering, and systems integration, with certifications like PLC or robotics programming often beneficial. The demand for automation professionals is expected to increase as companies seek efficiency and technological advancement.

What is robotic automation?

Robotic automation refers to the use of robots or computer-controlled machines to perform tasks that are usually repetitive, dangerous, or require high precision in various industries. This can include physical robots on assembly lines (industrial automation) or software robots that handle digital processes (robotic process automation, or RPA). By automating tasks, companies can increase efficiency, reduce errors, and lower operational costs. Robotic automation is widely used in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and many other sectors.

What are common challenges faced by professionals in robotic automation, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in robotic automation often encounter challenges such as integrating robots with existing legacy systems, troubleshooting unexpected equipment downtime, and adapting to rapidly evolving technologies. Effective communication with cross-functional teams—including IT, maintenance, and operations—is essential to ensure seamless implementation and minimize disruptions. Staying updated on industry trends and regularly participating in training can help professionals address these challenges and contribute to continuous improvement within automation projects.

How much do AI automation jobs pay?

AI automation jobs, including roles like Robotic Automation Engineer, typically offer salaries ranging from $70,000 to over $120,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and skill level. Professionals with expertise in programming, machine learning, and robotics tools tend to earn higher wages, especially in tech hubs or industries with high automation adoption.

Which 5 jobs will survive AI?

Robotic automation jobs are likely to persist in roles that require complex problem-solving, creativity, and emotional intelligence, such as robotics engineers, automation system designers, maintenance technicians, project managers, and cybersecurity specialists. These roles involve oversight, innovation, and adaptation that AI and automation are less capable of replacing. Developing skills in programming, systems integration, and critical thinking can enhance job security in this field.

What is the difference between Robotic Automation vs Robotic Process Automation?

AspectRobotic AutomationRobotic Process Automation
CredentialsTechnical certifications in robotics, automation, or engineeringCertifications in RPA tools like UiPath, Automation Anywhere
Work EnvironmentIndustrial settings, manufacturing plants, or automation labsOffice environments, primarily in business process workflows
Industry UsageManufacturing, automotive, electronicsBanking, insurance, healthcare, and finance
Job FocusDesign, programming, and maintenance of physical robotic systemsDeveloping software bots to automate digital tasks

Robotic Automation involves working with physical robots in industrial settings, focusing on hardware and mechanical systems. In contrast, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) centers on software bots that automate digital business processes. While both roles require technical skills, Robotic Automation emphasizes engineering and hardware expertise, whereas RPA focuses on software development and process optimization.
