Role Summary:

The Café Manager leads employees by way of Service Principles, Leadership Principles, and fosters a Teaming environment. The Café Manager is fully responsible for the day-to-day operations of the store. In addition, the Café Manager leads the organization in terms of top-quality experience, efficiency and superb customer engagement. The Café Manager will be held accountable for all operations of the café, including, meeting strict budgetary guidelines and controlling costs associated with COGS and labor, handling staff scheduling and personnel management, ordering and inventory, store appearance, and ensuring compliance with company policy and health codes.

As Café Manager, duties will include overseeing all things coffee, espresso, and tea including product development, education and training, and quality control. Also, have responsibility for driving the branding, merchandising, selling, and superior customer experience at Reserva Coffee Roasters store level, and be accountable for delivering sales and profit objectives throughout retail. Ensuring customer experience is outstanding, driving growth through shelving, new items, and selling promotional and incremental opportunities to achieve revenue targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coach, lead, and manage café employees

Conduct team meetings with café personnel on a regular basis

Conduct regular one on one and coaching opportunities with café personnel

Coach and lead Shift Leaders, Bakers, and Baristas towards exemplified leadership standards

Oversee barista trainer program proper training of café personnel

Promotes and practices safe work habits, identifies and resolves workplace hazards and documents any incidents or accidents at the store

Be "on call" to cover shifts for no-call/no-shows, handle emergencies, customer issues

Provide actionable business building recommendations

Manage inventory and all monetary transactions

Lead and direct the business activities of the café

Maintain high quality and consistent product standards

Build and maintain strong visual presentation in the café, implement first in class merchandising standards.

Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment both behind the counter, in storage spaces, and customer areas and when necessary report anything broken, missing, out of stock, etc.

Work to strengthen team members knowledge of Reserva Coffee Roasters brand

Maintain expertise of current trends and SCA standards

Work with Director of Marketing and Roast Master to launch new coffees and related beverages ensuring the highest level of relevant knowledge at all levels

Create and drive both tested and innovative selling strategies that maximize opportunities for growth, collaborate with retail leadership and marketing to execute plans

Research and lead new coffee and espresso related initiatives as needed

Investigate customer feedback

Maintaining optimal inventory levels

Collaborate to develop and maintain café-level systems and quality assurance and maintenance for all equipment

Work with team to develop and maintain recipes for coffee and espresso-based beverages as well as non-coffee specialty beverages and food items

Cup and taste coffee and tea regularly to maintain familiarity with product and quality standards

Stay informed of new coffee availability and attributes

Qualifications and Requirements:

Leadership experience required

Minimum Bachelor's degree highly desired

3 years - Experience in the specialty coffee, retail, hospitality and/or customer service industries

Must be 18 year or older

Must be willing and able to commit to a minimum employment term of at least one year

Available to work up to 40 hours per week is required

Available to work weekends and holidays is required

Available to work day and evening shifts is required

Ability to effectively plan, organize, and set priorities

Must hold a valid Food Managers license

Obtaining barista certification through SCA is preferred

Must expect to work 4-5 floor shifts per week

Must be willing to work overtime to cover shifts, including evenings and weekends and/or for special events, as well as generally be "on call" during store hours

Must have outstanding customer service skills, and an ability to communicate standards of excellent hospitality to others

Must have demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities, including an ability to effectively delegate tasks

Must be proficient with a computer and a smart phone, familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Office, etc.

Must be able or willing to learn to read and analyze P&L reports and spreadsheets

Must have excellent time management skills and an ability to handle multiple responsibilities at once

Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. and spend long periods of time on foot

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Ability to understand and communicate in Spanish is preferred
