Interns often collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, gaining exposure to real-world transportation projects and learning industry standards and best practices. This hands-on experience is valuable for building technical skills and understanding the workflow of professional roadway design teams.

What does a Roadway Design Intern do?

A Roadway Design Intern assists engineering teams in designing and planning roadway projects. Their duties typically include supporting the preparation of design drawings, performing basic calculations, gathering field data, and using software like AutoCAD or Civil 3D. Interns also help ensure that designs meet safety standards and project specifications. This role provides valuable hands-on experience for students or recent graduates pursuing a career in civil or transportation engineering.
