Roadway Engineer (PE / EI) - Transportation - Tallahassee, FL
Halff has an opening for a Civil Engineer, with their Engineering Intern (EI) Certification or Professional Engineering License (PE) to join our Transportation/Roadway team in our Tallahassee, FL location. The ideal candidate will bring Civil Engineering experience with a focus in Transportation / Roadway through Internships, jobs in the consulting industry, and/or experience working with, or for, public sector clients.
We will provide oversight and mentorship to further advance the candidates career development. The candidate should demonstrate ownership and eagerness to learn and develop. What you will do:
  • Works under a Professional Engineer (PE) Transportation Team Leader in the development of roadway design projects
  • Works closely with the other design staff, consultants, and clients to deliver projects that contribute to the growth and safety of Florida roadways
  • Works on multiple transportation projects in support of business needs
  • Assists in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Reviews transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) in the State of Florida OR Engineer Intern Certification (EI), or able and willing to obtain within 6 months of start date
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in transportation project delivery
  • MicroStation (or AutoCAD) experience
  • Understand basic roadway design (roadway design manual, AASHTO)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player, and have a focus on quality, integrity and success.
  • Experience with Open Roads Designer (ORD) is a plus
  • FDOT experience preferred, but not required
