Overview

The South Bend Clinic strives to make the entire Michiana community healthier by providing convenient primary, specialty and urgent care services close to home.  Our Mishawaka Day Road Plaza Clinic team in Dermatology is looking to add a skilled and compassionate provider to join our collaborative team, helping to expand our high-quality care, and continue serving the needs of our patients with expertise and dedication.

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant for this role. Ideal candidate would have 1-2 years experience in Dermatology as a licensed Advanced Practice Provider in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

As an APP at The South Bend Clinic, you will get the opportunity to: 

  • Perform comprehensive skin examinations,  conduct and interpret diagnostic testing, develop care plans.
  • Orders diagnostic testing, skin biopsies, laboratory, x-ray, and/or other non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Initiate collaboration with supervising physicians, referrals to appropriate physicians or other health care professionals of problems that exceed the NPs scope of practice. 
  • Maintains communication with referring physicians while continuing to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Prescribe medications within scope of practice, with collaborative physician oversight and necessary mid-level practitioner-controlled substance license
  • Counsel patients on conditions, treatment options, and preventative measures, adjusting communication to the patient's age, psycho-social, and cultural needs to achieve optimal health outcomes in accordance with practice protocols
Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive in multi-tasking and time management skills while ensuring patient care at a high level
  • Detail-oriented in maintaining patient-related information and documenting patient progress
  • Exceptional patient interaction demonstrating a friendly, approachable demeanor, effectively resolves customer complaints, and applies strong customer service principles to ensure a positive experience
  • Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. National certification in the applicable specialty (ANCC)
  • Current state licensure as Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse and RN in the state of Indiana
  • Maintains current CPR (BLS) certification
  • Active Mid-level Practitioner Controlled Substance License and DEA License may be required based on prescriptive authority
