Job description

The Sonnenalp Hotel is looking to hire a Full-Time Year-Round Concierge for One Willow Bridge Road. Sonnenalp is a luxury, family-owned hotel located in the heart of Vail, known for delivering genuine hospitality and creating unforgettable experiences for our guests and owners.

Wage: $24.00 - 28.00 per hour

Typical Schedule: Shifts are from 6:45am to 2:45pm and from 2:45pm to 10:45pm

Position Summary: The concierge is to extend the highest level of personalized service to all guests and owners. They should know the procedures and rotation system for One Willow Bridge Road reservations and assist in planning vacation weeks for club members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with area restaurants, shops, clubs, salons, car rental agencies, shuttle services, florists, etc. as these relationships are key to success for meeting guest expectations.
  • Keep informed of all ongoing happenings in the area i.e. special events, concerts, sports and leisure activities. Establish close contacts with appropriate people in these areas.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of check-in and check out procedures. To be completely familiar with all front desk computer operations and procedures for arrival and departures.
  • Responsible for operation of the PBX switchboard. Talking messages for guests and staff members: these must be complete and accurate. Use of proper and professional telephone etiquette.
  • Responsible for own cash drawer, must complete an inventory at the beginning and the end of a shift. Report any discrepancies to the One Willow Bridge Road Manager or Assistant Manager. The cash drawer and deposit at the end of the shift must balance.
  • Must gain in depth knowledge of HMS (property management system)
  • Gain and display in depth knowledge of Alice, concierge program.
  • Consistently note in HotSoS all guest comments and complaints as well as maintenance requests. Alert management when follow-up is necessary.
  • Contact departing guests the day prior to offer transportation arrangements for their return to the airport.
  • Assist in facilitating luggage handling and shipping.
  • Maintain accurate logs of all guest activities booked or reservations made and reconfirm all guest activities with vendor 24 hours in advance.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of the Sonnenalp Resort of Vail as well as applicable One Willow Bridge Road policies.
  • Complete tasks and projects delegated by the One Willow Bridge Road Management and assist other departments as business volumes and staffing levels demand. Assisting the Bellstaff with valet parking, check-ins, check-outs, is a prime example of extra duties that may be required.
  • Assist Club Members in scheduling Space Available vacations and any other Planned Vacation week. Be familiar with all aspects of the Fractional Ownership Reservation procedures and process.
  • Any other task either in written or verbally defined by the OWBR Management.

Recommended Skills and Qualifications

  • Concierge experience preferred
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • The Concierge Desk has a great impact on the hotels atmosphere and therefore, the Concierge should reflect warm hospitality mixed with professional discipline, yet proffering a relaxed, pleasant, caring demeanor.
  • Clean and Valid Colorado drivers license required.

Typical Working Conditions

  • Heavy phone call volume is to be expected as well as frequent guest contact.
  • The One Willow Bridge Road Concierge desk is located in the lobby of One Willow Bridge Road. Typically, all working conditions will be indoors. However, the Concierge may be required to assist the valets in parking cars in the garage, or walk over to the Sonnenalp Hotel to retrieve mail or bring amenity forms to the kitchen.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to stand and walk for full length of shift, up to 12 hours at one time.
  • Able to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting
  • Routinely handles objects weighing up to 15lbs and on occasion may be expected to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs
