Job description

RK&K's Construction Engineering Inspection and Construction Management Division is hiring a Construction Inspector to join our team in NW Georgia. As a Construction Inspector with RK&K you will strengthen our construction engineering and inspection business while leading complex and routine inspections on projects including highway, bridge, municipal design/design-build projects.
Essential Functions:
  • Provide construction management support, including inspection, and monitoring of construction ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Fully engage in solving intermediate problems to provide evaluation and sound solutions
  • Monitor the activities of other inspectors
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractors
  • Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and other engineering disciplines on construction projects
  • Recordkeeping, materials testing, and reporting as required
  • Must possess high integrity and ethics in all aspects of dealing with clients, subconsultants, and peers

Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) + years of progressive experience in roadway and structures construction
  • GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training Group 1 and 2
  • GDOT WECS.
  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification
  • GSWCC Level 1A
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of GDOT manuals, policies and procedures, include the Construction Manual
  • Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts; and interpret construction plans, provisions, standards, and specifications
  • Ability to train, coordinate, and supervise entry level inspection technicians in the field
  • Travel to job sites is expected, clean driving record

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • Previous experience with GDOT, especially as an Inspector

Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
