Hill International is seeking a Construction Inspector in Houston, TX
Responsibilities
  • Oversight of construction inspection to ensure roadways, bridges, drainage and related structures, traffic control, and environmental requirements are built in accordance with plans and specifications
  • Consults with project engineers, resident project representatives and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems; reviews equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates
  • Ensures adequate levels of equipment and materials are assigned to projects; ensures material tests are performed and materials meet required standards
  • Drives to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges, and related highway structures and/or airport improvements in accordance with plans and specifications
  • Documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
  • Reviews construction records, inspection reports and records audits to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges, and related structures in accordance with plans and specifications
  • Mentors and develop technical employees in test and inspection procedures and material specifications
  • Tracks work progress
  • Develop Daily Work Reports (DWRs) in Site Manager
  • Verifies all materials meet specifications and are performing as designed
  • Performs material testing and inspection at various locations, including laboratory, field, plant, and stockpile, utilizing required methods and equipment
  • Performs measurement and documentation of quantities on appropriate forms and in accordance with specifications
  • Leads the work of professional and technical employees in construction experience.

Qualifications
  • 6+ years of construction inspection experience on highways/roadways
  • Understanding of governmental laws, rules and regulations specific to area of responsibility for safeguarding information and information technology related systems, inspection methods, procedures and techniques and testing methods, processes and procedures
  • Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints and maps
  • Applicable plans, specifications and estimates preparation, review, processing and compliance requirements
  • Methods for reviewing plans and specifications for compliance with requirements
  • Construction engineering policies and procedures
  • Basic traffic management and control procedures
