What skills and qualifications are needed for an RNC?

To thrive as a Registered Nurse Certified (RNC), you need a strong background in nursing, current RN licensure, and specialized certification in an area such as obstetrics or neonatal care. RNCs may pursue further certifications to specialize in fields such as maternal-newborn nursing, neonatal intensive care, or inpatient obstetrics. With experience, they can also move into educator positions, clinical leadership, or quality improvement roles. Many employers encourage ongoing education and professional development, making this a rewarding pathway for nurses seeking to expand their skills and impact.
