Management Position normally Monday-Friday 8a-430pm
Summary of Duties
Responsible for supervising the day-to-day nursing activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the long term care facility and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services/Clinical Services Administrator to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing employees in accordance with the resident care plan, current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility
  2. Implement and maintain an effective orientation program that orients the new employee to Nursing policies and procedures and to his/her job position duties
  3. Determine and inform staff of the work/resident assignment for the shift
  4. Admit, transfer, and discharge residents according to the doctors orders
  5. Inform employees of new admission
  6. Greet new admissions and escort to rooms
  7. Participate in the assessment and care planning process; communicating information observed during the shift
  8. Meet with residents, and/or family members, as necessary. Report problem areas to the Director of Nursing Services/Assistant Director of Nursing Services
  9. Encourage residents and their families to participate in the development and review of care plans
  10. Make daily rounds and report findings to Director of Nursing Services/Clinical Services Administrator to determine if nursing services are in accordance with nursing standards
  11. Document all interventions and activities according to policy and regulations
  12. Communicate with physician, Director of Nursing Services/Assistant Director of Nursing Services, and other employees, as necessary, concerning the status of residents and activities on the shift
  13. Make rounds with physicians as necessary. Schedule physician visits as necessary
  14. Prepare and administer medication as ordered by the physician
  15. Report all discrepancies concerning physician's orders for patient care to the Director of Nursing Services/Assistant Director of Nursing Services
  16. Inform the Director of Nursing Services/Clinical Services Administrator of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on the shift
  17. Report medication, supply and equipment needs to Director of Nursing Services/Assistant Director of Nursing Services
  18. Perform other duties and responsibilities including special projects as assigned

Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and licensed by the State of Alabama as a Registered Nurse. Three (3) years experience in a long-term care facility or nursing home preferred. Must possess CPR certification within thirty (30) days of employment.
Physical Requirements for Essential Job Functions
  1. Must be able to move about intermittently throughout the workday
  2. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
  3. Must be able to reach, bend, and/or stoop intermittently throughout the work day
  4. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
  5. Must be able to push, pull, or move a minimum of 100 pounds utilizing proper body mechanics and assistance
  6. Must be able to walk/stand 75% of the day
  7. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
