What You'll Do

Position Summary: The Risk Program Manager is responsible for the overall operations and coordination of the Clinical Risk Management Program across all Adena locations. This position provides leadership and oversight of clinical risk identification, analysis, evaluation, prevention, mitigation, monitoring and trending of actual and potential adverse events and loss exposures. The Risk Program Manager serves as a resource and consultant to system leaders, providers and caregivers regarding clinical risk and patient safety matters. The position collaborates closely with the Director of Risk Management, legal counsel, clinical leadership and other system stakeholders to identify emerging risks, evaluate potential claims, support claim resolution and develop strategies to reduce organization loss and liability. The Risk Program Manager promotes a proactive system-wide approach to clinical risk management through effective rounding, auditing, event review, data analysis, education, consultation and development and implementation of risk reduction strategies. 

Minimum Qualifications Required Educational Degree: Bachelor's or Master's Degree Major/Area of Concentration: Registered Nurse; (RN) Juris Doctor (JD) will be considered 

Preferred Education: Juris Doctor (JD) will be considered, Masters Degree 

Required Certifications, Credentials and Licenses: CPHRM - Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (or within 1 year of hire)

 Preferred Certifications, Credentials and Licenses:

 Required Experience: 10+ years in healthcare. 1-3 years in Risk Management or Risk Management related department (Quality/Compliance/Nursing leadership/Organizational Leadership)

 Preferred Experience: 3-5 years in Risk Management and/or Nursing leadership 

Job Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion Prioritize multiple high risk issues and respond appropriately Demonstrate ability to develop, implement and evaluate Risk mitigation strategies Proficiency with EMR, Event Reporting system, data analysis tools and Microsoft applications Experience with clinical risk assessment, investigation, adverse event analysis Collaborative Work relations Critical Thinking skills to navigate complex healthcare environment Strong analytical skills 

Job Specific Essential Functions Oversees the Risk Management Program including but not limited to managing and analyzing risk management data, complying with risk management related standards by accrediting and regulatory agencies and minimizing loss to protect the System. Investigates and evaluates risk management incident report data and adverse events utilizing surveillance, education, policy development, research, consultation to assist department directors/committees with action plans. May participate in Root Cause Analysis and Failure Modes Effects and Critically Analysis. Recommends and or develops policies and procedure aimed at reducing system clinical and business risk. Reports on system exposure to Director of Risk Management Conducts effective clinical risk rounding and audits throughout the system facilities and clinical areas to identify potential risks and opportunities for prevention Collaborates with system leadership, medical staff, nursing leadership and caregivers to provide direction, consultation and recommendations regarding risk related issues. Serves as a subject matter expert resource for clinal risk management principles, risk identification, event management, disclosure, communication and loss prevention. Develops, implements and evaluates risk mitigation strategies designed to reduce patient harm,professional liability, regulatory exposure and organizational loss.
