Role Summary

Our team is creating groundbreaking power conversion systems for electric vehicles, smart grids, and more. We're seeking a highly driven Senior Power Electronics Software Engineer who's ready to be a key contributor and shape our embedded software landscape. As a Senior Power Electronics Software Engineer, you will be a vital contributor, responsible for the complete development cycle of embedded software for our innovative power electronics products. You'll have the opportunity to directly influence our software architecture and see your work come to life.


Responsibilities
  • End-to-End Contribution: Playing a key role in the specification, design, implementation, and thorough testing of low-level software (bare metal and RTOS) for various power electronics applications.
  • Independent Problem Solving: Taking initiative to understand and resolve technical challenges and ambiguities in requirements and designs.
  • Interface Development: Designing and implementing clear and efficient interfaces between software components.
  • Multicore Implementation: Contributing to the development and testing of multicore applications for optimal performance.
  • Real-Time Implementation: Developing robust and efficient real-time software components and interfaces.
  • Quality Focus: Implementing and executing comprehensive software component testing to ensure stability and reliability.
  • Hardware Interaction: Collaborating with hardware engineers and using debugging tools to verify software functionality.
  • Detailed Documentation: Creating and maintaining thorough documentation for your software projects.

Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of embedded software development principles and strong C programming skills.
  • Proven experience with version control systems (GitFlow, GitLab).
  • Ability to develop and utilize scripting languages (Python) for testing and automation.
  • Familiarity with software build systems and the ability to work with build scripts (Bazel preferred, CMake, Makefile).
  • A strong grasp of real-time software concepts and testing methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, implement, and test embedded software modules.
  • Experience debugging embedded systems using standard tools.
  • A self-starter with a strong drive to contribute and deliver high-quality results.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (Master's degree is a plus).
  • 2+ years of professional experience in developing real-time embedded C systems.

Pay Disclosure

Pay Range: The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $168,000 annually for Southern California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.


Benefits: We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. You may also have the opportunity to participate in Rivian’s 401(k) Plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program if you meet certain eligibility requirements. Full-time employee coverage is effective on their first day of employment. Part-time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
