Job description

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.
What you will do
At Volvo Trucks North America, we are helping transform our company, the transportation industry, and society at large. At our New River Valley site, you will help ensure the right parts are in the right place at the right time by coordinating production schedules, shipments, and logistics across our manufacturing network.
Responsibilities
You will coordinate the daily flow of cabs, hoods, painted components, and other parts between New River Valley (NRV), LVO, RVO, KMO, suppliers, and logistics partners. You will monitor production and shipment requirements, identify gaps or potential disruptions, and communicate proactively with internal teams and carriers to keep material moving and production on schedule.
You will manage daily shipment activity and maintain accurate tracking and reporting to provide visibility into what has shipped, what is in transit, what has been received, and what remains outstanding. This includes monitoring carrier notifications, trailer requirements, delivery status, ETAs, and shipment discrepancies while ensuring logistics systems and tracking tools remain accurate and up to date.
You will work closely with Production Planning, Paint, Plastics, Logistics, Finance, and external carriers to coordinate changing requirements and respond to shortages, damaged or replacement parts, schedule changes, and other issues that could impact production. You will support daily and weekly production planning by maintaining shipment trackers, reviewing production schedules, and communicating changes across the network.
You will also analyze shipment and production data to identify missing or delayed parts, investigate discrepancies, and provide timely status updates through daily BI reporting and production meetings. Your work will help ensure production teams have the information they need to make decisions and maintain a reliable flow of material.
Your future team
  • Close collaboration with NRV Production Planning, Paint, Plastics, Logistics, and Scheduling teams
  • Daily coordination with LVO, RVO, KMO, and Watsontown teams
  • Frequent interaction with carriers, 3PLs, suppliers, and logistics partners
  • Partnership with Finance to ensure shipment records support accurate billing
  • Cross-functional collaboration to identify and resolve material and transportation issues

Who are you?
You are an organized, proactive logistics professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can change quickly. You are comfortable managing multiple schedules, shipment requirements, and stakeholders while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
You know how to connect the dots between production schedules, material availability, transportation, and customer requirements. You are comfortable investigating discrepancies, following up on open issues, and communicating clearly with both internal teams and external partners.
You are a strong communicator who builds effective cross-functional relationships and is not afraid to ask questions, escalate risks, or follow an issue through to resolution. You can work independently with general supervision, prioritize competing demands, and use data to identify potential issues before they impact production.
You bring a customer-focused mindset and understand how decisions made within production and logistics can ultimately affect the broader value chain and customer experience.
What you bring
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in production scheduling, logistics, supply chain, or a related manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing schedule changes resulting from shortages, downtime, production changes, or backlog preferred
  • Experience supporting Paint or other manufacturing operations preferred

Experience & Skills
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, material flow, transportation, and logistics processes
  • Experience coordinating shipments and managing changing transportation requirements
  • Ability to analyze production and shipment data, identify discrepancies, and investigate root causes
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive requirements
  • Ability to build and leverage cross-functional networks across diverse organizational areas
  • Broad exposure to Production, Supply Chain, Transportation, and customer-facing processes
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand how decisions across the value chain impact production and customer satisfaction
  • Quick learner with the adaptability to navigate different processes, functions, and organizational environments
  • Proficiency working with data, tracking tools, reporting systems, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision and resolve difficult, but typically non-complex, problems

What's in it for you?
We offer a solid package of compensation and benefits. In addition to that, you will enjoy:
  • An opportunity to directly impact production performance and material flow at a major Volvo Trucks manufacturing site
  • Exposure to a broad range of Production, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Transportation functions
  • The opportunity to build a strong cross-functional network across Volvo Trucks North America
  • A role where your analysis, coordination, and communication directly support production and customer delivery
  • Competitive compensation and benefits, with opportunities for learning and career development
